Housing We have been advising on the building of a stone block retaining wall using locally sourced quarried block stone instead of using gabion walling. The project is for 5 houses and the client required a tiered garden area and slope support. We have advised on the size of the blocks and method of construction to ensure support for the excavation and the drainage of the land to provide an aesthetic feature to the prestigious development. Windfall Sites, Mineral Extraction, Landfill, Investigation, and 2 Community Sports Facilities

We have noticed a steady increase in small windfall sites that we have been asked to advise on for ground conditions and coal mining which should provide small housing sites throughout South and West Yorkshire. We have been involved in foundations and retaining wall design providing solutions to hillside sites and ones affected by shallow coal mining. Australia 2016

We have had an interesting time over the past three months, starting with a trip down under to complete some post contract business for a coal conveyor or installation and to assess the opportunities for the company in project management, planning and permitting work, environmental assessment and contaminated land projects. The research was mainly in the South in Adelaide, Melbourne, Gippsland, Canberra and Sydney. A number of large quarrying projects were visited in the southern New South Wales area. 2015 – Another Successful Year

This year has been another successful year for the company as activity in the construction industry has grown. We are currently working on 4 planning applications for aggregates, industrial minerals and building stone for minerals to supply the construction sector, mainly housing and commercial development in West Yorkshire and Lancashire. Building on Success

It has been a good year so far for the company with successful planning applications approved for extensions to 2 quarries, the approval of recovery schemes for 4 quarries and planning permissions granted for 2 housing projects. We are continuing with approvals by the Coal Authority of the coal mining risk assessments prepared by our mining engineers and this year have provided reports on the Yorkshire, Scottish, Welsh, Derbyshire and Leicestershire coal fields using our own archives and mine records. Environmental Permits

We have recently assisted a client to transfer permits for a waste transfer station and recovery scheme to procure material and restore a quarry. Our engineers have project managed the scheme and advised on the environmental impact.

Planning Permissions

Cromwell Wood Estate Company has project managed the planning applications for 4 houses in Leeds and the development has now received planning permission. We have project managed an application of 15 houses which included a coal mining risk assessment and phase 1 audit which has been submitted to the LPA and registered. Planning permission has been received last week for the retention of a saw shed for a local quarry.
