COVID 19 Update – 2 May 2020

Now that the UK seems to be over the curve, things have become clearer on the opening up of the economy and whilst the construction sector has been seen to be a key industry, some sections of the industry have remain closed such as suppliers, builders merchants, quarries and house builders. Some companies have continued to work and our engineers and surveyors have been advising clients on safe distancing, assessing the risk, Government advice and monitoring sites for safety until Continue reading COVID 19 Update – 2 May 2020

COVID-19 Update

Following the Prime Minister’s address on 23/03/20 there has been uncertainty amongst our customers over the first week of lock down regarding the availability of services to the construction, quarrying and waste sectors. We are therefore updating our customers accordingly. Cromwell Mining Consultants are still trading as normal and will continue to do so unless a clear instruction to the contrary is distributed by the Government. We as a company are respectful of the current situation the country is in Continue reading COVID-19 Update

Providing The Services To Build

Quarrying With the days becoming longer, temperatures warmer (hopefully), Brexit done and a new Government, we can all concentrate on providing the services to build houses, places of work and leisure, over the next few years. We are doing our bit by working with our clients in the quarrying and mining sectors to provide the building materials to build houses in stone and brick, provide aggregate for concrete, concrete blocks, roof tiles and paving. Quarrying building stone in Halifax for Continue reading Providing The Services To Build

Buoyant Construction Market Brings New Opportunities

Over the past few months we have been seeing an increase in the work load in regard to construction materials supply, recycling activity and the preparation of sites for housing. We are currently involved in three sites for housing that require remediation within the West Yorkshire conurbation which our engineers will be working on through the summer. Environmental Permits Two of our clients have received environmental permits for the recycling of waste for construction in the past few weeks after Continue reading Buoyant Construction Market Brings New Opportunities

New clients and a visit to Ireland

As the weather has been dry with occasional showers we have been busy with development projects for our housing, waste and quarrying clients and despite Brexit most of our clients are busy with the construction sector. Most of the consultants we use for ecology, landscape noise, dust, and drainage, are busy and the lead times at the present time can be up to 6 weeks. We are currently working on our geotechnical assessments for a number of clients who have Continue reading New clients and a visit to Ireland

Good dry weather helps construction in the New Year

With the doom and gloom over Brexit there are one or two little rays of sunshine. The dry mild weather has allowed work to begin in our clients’ quarries and housing developments around the north of England. The weather has been kind to excavation and quarrying for building stone, as no frost means stone can be stored near the saws without being damaged by below zero temperatures. Consequently we have been assisting our quarry clients with planning for 2019 production Continue reading Good dry weather helps construction in the New Year

Better Weather Brings New Opportunities

Weather impacts work – but we’re ready for action! Like all companies involved in the construction and minerals sector, the weather over winter and spring has had a major impact on the progression of work to provide building materials and build houses. It has been one of the wettest winters for a long time and with sub zero temperatures the laying of bricks, quarrying of building stone and the washing of material, has been suspended for prolonged periods of time. Continue reading Better Weather Brings New Opportunities

Cromwell Wood News June 2017

Housing We have been advising on the remediation of an old quarry to enable the site to be filled with selected earth works material from the construction and demolition waste streams. The material will be selected by our engineers and then compacted under their supervision to provide a development platform and soakaways to allow the dispersal of rain water to ground. Our surveyors continue to advise on housing sites for SME Builders and we are involved in five sites in Continue reading Cromwell Wood News June 2017

Housing We have been advising on the building of a stone block retaining wall using locally sourced quarried block stone instead of using gabion walling. The project is for 5 houses and the client required a tiered garden area and slope support. We have advised on the size of the blocks and method of construction to ensure support for the excavation and the drainage of the land to provide an aesthetic feature to the prestigious development.
